Reception: On arrival please book in at the office, which is situated at the end of the shop.
Car Parking: Vehicles must park in the site car park. Vehicles are not allowed on the campsite. The site access lane, including the route past the car park MUST BE KEPT CLEAR FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES. Vehicles and their contents are left entirely at your own risk. Walton Firs can accept no responsibility for any loss or damage suffered.
Caravans: Caravans are not allowed on site, but there is normally room in the car park for a few.
Pre Camp Visits: If you would like to visit the site before your camp please try to give us some notice before hand and then we can make sure we are around to answer your questions etc.
Dogs: For health reasons, the benefit of other campers and to protect the wild life, dogs other than Guide Dogs are not permitted at Walton Firs.
Toilet Blocks: There are two permanent toilet blocks on site, both with flush toilets and hot water in all wash hand basins. Free hot showers are available for Leaders and children. Leaders showers are located at the back of the ladies toilets by the Pembroke building.
Special Needs: We have a large washroom for people with special needs. It has a shower, toilet and wash hand basin. Please let us know at time of booking if you wish to be close to this facility.
Water: Standpipes are situated throughout the campsite but washing is not allowed at these taps.
Shop: The shop sells a selection of sweets, drinks, postcards, badges, souvenirs and gifts. Camping Gaz & Calor gas can also be purchased at the shop. As the profit from the shop provides equipment for the adventure course, pioneering etc. Leaders are requested NOT to run their own tuck shop. Opening times are displayed in the shop window.
Telephone: A public coin telephone is situated at the front of the Service Team bungalow. It is for out going calls only. The Wardens number should only be given to your Home Contact, not parents.
Generators: The use of generators is not allowed on site.
First Aid: Groups are expected to provide their own First Aid requirements but the Warden or Resident Service Team Leader may be able to offer assistance.
Noise: Music machines etc. must not be audible off your own site. Everyone should be back on their own site by 22.30. Lights out and quiet by 23.00.
Flag Break: Every morning, Monday to Saturday at 9.00 and at 9.30 on Sunday.
Scouts Own: Short inter-denominational religious observance every Sunday morning at 9.15.
Camp Fires: There is a campfire circle on site and campfires can be arranged with the Warden.
Fires: Small cooking fires only, in existing fire holes. Altar fires & B.B.Q’s must also be put in fire holes, not over turf. A woodpile is provided and we ask that all unused wood be returned. Ashes are to be put into the metal dustbins beside the woodpile. Not in the skip.
Refuse Disposal: Please burn as much as possible. Bagged rubbish may be put in the wheely bins or the skip in the car park.
Wet/Grease Pits: May be dug in existing fires holes. Do not drain wets pits over the grass.
Turf: No turf to be dug for any reason.
No smoking: In the accommodation buildings, toilets or at the activities.
For Hire: Large Marquee, Mess Tent, Tables & Chairs.
